Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do we park for Trunk or Treat?
A:
If you are coming to Trick or Treat, all parking will be at the High School Lots.  There are multiple lots (front of High School, behind High School).  Enter via Boston Road or Putnam Hill Road.  Use the newly paved walking paths to stroll to the Trunk or Treat lot in front of the Elementary School.

If you are a Trunker, you will park at the Trunker lot in front of the Elementary School.  Enter via Boston Road at the Elementary entrance; police detail will advise.

Handicap parking will be available next to the Simonian Center.  Enter via Boston Road at the Elementary entrance; police detail will advise.

See our map below for details.

Q: Is there food on-site?
A:
Yes, there will be food trucks on-site serving drinks and snacks.  There will also be much more food at the Common (Lions Club, food trucks, fall treats)

Q: Are there toilets available?
A:
Porta Potties are located on-site; near the Trunk or Treat lot and near the High School outdoor basketball courts.  NO ACCESS INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS IS ALLOWED.

For Trunkers:

Q:  Will I have access to electricity for my trunk display?

A:  Probably, yes.  We have several generators on loan from United Rentals placed strategically in the parking lot.

  • Keep power consumption to a minimum:  LED lights and similar low-wattage items are OK.  No space heaters, big blowers, or fog machines (unless you have your own generator).

  • BRING YOUR OWN EXTENSION CORDS.  Label everything with your name and phone number.

  • Power from our generators is first-come-first served and not guaranteed.

Q: Do I bring my own candy or does the PTO provide candy?

A: Both!  We love our Trunkers and want to provide as much candy as possible.  However, the supply is limited and the demand is always unlimited!  Here are some quick tips:

  • We estimate 300-500 Trick-or-Treaters could attend this event.

  • The PTO will provide each Trunker with at least 300 pieces of assorted candy and non-candy trinkets.  This is based on our current inventory from Parent and Sponsor donations as of October 23rd.  If more candy arrives through donations, we will increase the amount provided to Trunkers.

  • CANDY DISCIPLINE:  This is essential for getting Trunk or Treat to go the distance! Please, please, please exercise restraint when passing out candy.  We know this is a tough ask because of the excitement and enthusiasm of the kids.  But, rest assured, all the little monsters will accumulate enough treats to go home happy.  Make your stash last the night by handing out 1 or 2 pieces per ghoul, ghost, or goblin.  Avoid letting them take their own (they'll grab a handful - they can't help it!).  Plus, it's a good way to interact with the kids and slow them down a little.  You can remind them all about voting for YOUR trunk and show off your voting box!

Q: What time is setup?

A: Trunkers can arrive anytime after 2PM to set up their Trunks.  You must be ready for Trick-or-Treaters starting at 5PM sharp!

Q: Where am I going / parking?

A: The Trunker lot is directly in front of the Sutton Elementary / Simonian Center for Early Learning.  It is the staff parking lot.  See the attached map (Trunker Lot = ORANGE).

  • Enter the school grounds from Boston Road at the SES/SCEL entrance.  After 4PM, a police officer will be stationed at this entrance;  Trunkers and Volunteers will be allowed entry.

  • Upon arrival, you will be met by a Trunk or Treat Minion to check your registration, provide information and updates, give you a ballot box, and help you get parked.

  • The parking lot to the West of the Simonian Center ('parent pickup / dropoff') is reserved for Handicap and Volunteer parking (red on the map)

  • If you arrive in more than one vehicle, please park your non-Trunker car in the Volunteer / Handicap lot.

  • All other participant parking will be at the High School Lots (purple), just FYI.

Q: How are the Trunky Awards and prizes being handled?

A: Upon arrival, you will be given a black "ballot box" with your assigned number on it.   Each Treater will have a ballot ticket to cast their vote for their favorite Trunk.  So, encourage your guests to vote for yours!   Consider the placement of your ballot box in your display.  They are small… about 6"x6"x6".  At 7PM a Minion will collect your box and the votes will be tallied at the PTO booth.  Winners of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Trunky Awards will be awarded their Trunky statue and prize package as soon as the results are finalized.
